Can Doge Coin be the first Inter Planetary Digital Currency IPDC ?

Starlink & its Founder

The currency of space will be digital, the constraint of weight precludes the use of traditional stores of value that have a physical form such as gold. Price of goods and services in space will be determined by the cost of securing that good or service locally or the price of importing that good or service from earth. The same economics that are in play in remote regions such as Pitcairn Island.

In order for Doge to fulfill this function it will need to be enhanced by for example adopting its consensus algorithm to something like the Hash Core algorithm, as well as the Ergo Script. The Hash Core algorithm will keep Dogecoin ASIC-resistant, a imperative if you wish the currency to remain decentralized and the Ergo Script algorithm which will allow the implementation of smart contracts aka Ethereum.

Paying for satellite launches and the services that the satellites provide, can be the first step in developing an IPDC. An entrepreneur with ambitions of a satellite constellation to develop a low-cost, high-performance satellite bus and requisite customer ground transceivers to implement a new spaceborne Internet communication system, may undertake this initial step towards a more lofty ambition of an IPDC.

The global space launch market was USD $12.7 billion in 2019 and projected to reach USD $26 billion by 2027. The leader in this market being the Falcon 9 Heavy with an impressive and launch cost of USD $1400/kg or 70% less than its nearest competitor.

Domination of the near space market gives the first mover advantage to greater ambitions further afield if Doge can ride this wave the price could quite literally be the Moon if not Mars.
